Gooey, Gloppy, and Good Halloween Recipes

Severed Fingers

The Parts:
1 batch of Basic Sugar Cookies
1 cup blanched almonds
1 tablespoon of red food coloring

Putting the parts together:
Preheat oven to 325 degrees.  Place Almonds in a bowl, drizzle on enough red food coloring to coat almonds.  Stir almonds around so thta they are evenly colored.  Place almonds on towel lined platter.

Work with one half of the dough at a time and keep the remainder refrigerated.  Scoop doigh into tablespoonful-sized balls.  Roll each piece of dough into a finger shape.  Press almond, pointy-end out, firmly into 1 end of cookie finger to form a nail.  Press the tines of frok lightly into the dough just below the nail and in the center of the finger to form knuckles.  Put a little red food coloring on the end where the finger would have been severed off.

Place cookies, about 1-inch apart, on parchment-lined cookie sheets; bake for about 10 to 15 mintues or until pale golden.  When cookies are done, let cool on cookie sheets for 3 minutes.  Repeat with remaining dough and almonds.

The Parts:
2 bags of popped microwavable popcorn (I use Kettle
  corn)
1 Bag of Marshmellows
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup brown sugar

First thing you want to do is set out a big pot on the stove. Then get a big piece of waxed paper set out that is greased.  Turn the heat on low and pour in the bag of marshmellow into the pot.  Let them slowly melt, stirring occasionaly.  While you do that put the butter and the brown sugar in a microwave safe container and heat until melted and creamy.  Then pour the two togther.  Mix well.  While still hot pour in the popcorn and mixed till evenly coated.  Then you just scoop our some of the mixture and make them into compact balls.  Set them on the waxed paper and let them set.  Once they are cool, wrap them up in some plastic wrap and a orange or black ribbon and your set.
